Winter Night Hike

We'll head out to explore the winter woods and prairie at night. This is a beautiful time of the year to be out in the dark. and we're likely to see owls and deer and maybe coyotes in the distance. We'll warm up afterward with hot chocolate. 

Where :     Jarrett Prairie Center

Time :       6pm - 830pm.

Fee :        Free event

Ages :      6 years and up

Bald Hill Winter Walking Tour

Take a winter hike with Superintendent of Education, Mark Herman and tour the Byron Forest Preserve Bald Hill Prairie Preserve. Home to the biggest tree in IL. See the major oak savanna restoration efforts going on at this new preserve. This will be a challenging walk along steep hills with great views. Please dress for the weather. 

Where :     Meet at the Bald Hill parking lot : 5502 N Silver Creek Rd, Mt Morris

Time :       10am

Fee :       Free program

Ages :     10 years and up

Free Public Sky Viewing

Join us every Saturday for public viewing at the Weiskopf Observatory. 

 

Where :     Weiskopf Observatory :  7993 N River Rd, Byron.

Time :      Dusk unitl two hours after dark. 

Fee :        Free program

Ages :     All are welcome
