This part-time position includes some evenings and every other weekend averaging about 20 hours per month. Pay range is $11-$15/hour depending on qualifications plus a free, all-inclusive personal golf pass to PrairieView Golf Club that’s worth $1,300!
Duties include: Setting up/taking down tables and chairs. Overseeing the museum/gift shop area at the Jarrett Prairie Center. Greeting visitors.

Summer Camp Director
This seasonal position will be filled by an energetic person who will run the day-to-day operations for the Forest Preserve’s Summer Day Camp Program. The Summer Camp Director will be in charge of scheduling activities, overseeing camp staff, organizing paperwork, and other tasks related to Summer Day Camp operations. This is a hands-on position working with 40-45 campers, Monday-Friday, 40+ hours per week for 10 weeks over the summer, mostly outdoors. The Summer Camp Director will be expected to be involved with camp daily and to attend all field trips. Training and planning will start in April, summer day camp runs June through mid-August. Applicants must be at least 21 years old. Starting wage is $16/hr. Position is seasonal but could become a year-round part-time position in the Education Department assisting with other programs and school field trips.Benefits include an all-inclusive personal golf pass to PrairieView Golf Club that’s worth $1400. If this position becomes part-time, other benefits are available.

Part-Time Education Staff Positions
The Byron Forest Preserve is seeking to hire part-time staff to assist with school field trips, home school programs, public programs, and preschool. Our ideal candidate will have experience working with children and/or completed relevant college classwork, and be willing to learn about natural history, prairie ecology, and similar topics. Duties may include leading hikes, helping with STEAM and craft activities, museum tours, outdoor games, assisting with preschool, and hosting concerts and lectures. Hours vary depending on season, and may be increased if the employee wishes to plan and offer public programs. This position is year-round; benefits include a personal seasonal golf pass with cart rental, program discounts, food and beverage discounts at our facilities, uniform allowance, paid holidays, and accrues vacation and sick leave.
