Jupiter and Saturn Conjunction

December 21, 2020 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

These two planets haven’t been this close in 800 years!  They will appear closer together than the width of the moon.  Sure, you’ll be able to see the “Christmas Star” from your backyard, but magnified through a telescope, you can see both planets in the same field with a few of their moons as well.  We will have telescopes set up outdoors for public viewing with staff assisting at each.  We will be practicing social distancing and requiring the use of masks.  Viewing will be done outside in small groups, one carload at a time.  The Jarrett Center (museum building) and the observatory will be closed.  Please check before you drive out if the weather seems cloudy, we will need clear nights for good for good viewing and may need to reschedule.  Please dress for the weather.
